Helpful hints for the house inspection

  • It is wise to go out if possible when purchasers are viewing your property. If possible take any pets with you. This gives the prospective purchaser an opportunity to view your property and speak their mind without feeling intimidated or getting jumped on by pets.
  • If you are present at the showing, never apologise for the appearance of your property as it only highlights the negatives. Let your trained North Shore Realty sales specialist answer any objections. This is what they are trained to do.
  • Create a welcoming homely environment. Get the temperature comfortable (heat or cool if necessary), adjust lighting and ensure your home smells good and inviting. You may also want to consider having some soft music playing.
  • Wash up dirty dishes and put them away.
  • Make sure the toilet is clean and the seat is down.
  • The fruit bowl can be used to add a bit of colour to a plain kitchen but remember to remove mouldy or over-ripe fruit in the fruit bowl as it tends to smell off and can make the kitchen seem less appealing.
  • A bunch of fresh flowers can be used to strategically add colour to a dull room and stimulate the senses.
  • Open drapes to let in the sun (natural light is best) and turn on lights where necessary so that the rooms are not dark and gloomy.
  • Remember to appeal to people’s senses. Baking biscuits or bread can help give the home a homely atmosphere.

Keep your property insured until settlement
